boston police report arresting a South Boston man accused of robbing La Familia Market, 64A Blue Hill Avenue. on Moreland Street in Roxbury around 10:35 a.m. Monday.
Sylvester Forde, 23, was arrested a few minutes later and a few blocks away, at Waverly and Perrin streets.
Officers immediately observed what they believed to be the handle of a firearm, protruding from the suspect's jacket pocket. The suspect was handcuffed and the firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with one round in the chamber and eight rounds in the magazine.
Forde was charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
