Shiba Inu was the most viewed cryptocurrency in 2021, surpassing Bitcoin: CoinMarketCap

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) cryptocurrency is no longer a joke. Inspired by a dog meme and billed as the 'Dogecoin killer', SHIB was the most viewed crypto in 2021, beating Bitcoin and even Ethereum, cryptocurrency price tracking website CoinMarketCap announced.

According to CoinMarketCap, the Dogecoin spin-off recorded over 188 million views over the past 12 months, while the apex cryptocurrency Bitcoin ranked second with 145 million views in 2021. It should be noted that SHIB is currently the 13th largest cryptocurrency in the world. world, with a market capitalization of more than $ 20 billion.

Meanwhile, Dogecoin ranked third among the most viewed cryptocurrencies with 107 million views, while Cardano had around 86 million views and Ethereum garnered 81 million views.

It is speculated that the rise in SHIB will be fueled after tech billionaire Elon Musk tweeted a photo of the Shiba Inu moon going to the moon on October 18. At the time, the token was trading at $ 0.000026 (Rs. 0.0020). His tweet pushed the coin nearly 50 percent to hit a high of $ 0.000044 (Rs. 0.0033), per CoinMarket's cap.

Another major reason is the rumors floating around the cryptocurrency world that SHIB will soon be listed on the popular stock trading app, Robinhood. A petition on Change.org has also implored Robinhood to list the coin on its platform. He got almost 3 lakh from signatures.

This is not the first time that SHIB has been called the most discussed cryptocurrency. Previously in October, data compiled by ICO Analytics revealed Shiba Inu was the most discussed crypto in October, receiving a 22 percent share of all crypto asset discussions on the platform, dwarfing Ethereum by 8.1 percent and Bitcoin by 7.2 percent.

On Twitter, SHIB supporters have been raising their voices using hashtags likeโ€” #SHIBARMY #ShibaSwap #shibainu #shibainucoin, and #SHIB - to rally support for the meme coin.

Meanwhile, the cryptocurrencies Safemoon, Solana, Cardano and Binance were among the ten most discussed cryptocurrencies on Twitter, according to the chart shared by ICO Analytics. However, none of the cryptocurrencies came close to the popularity of SHIB.

Interestingly, nearly 70.52 percent of SHIB's circulation is controlled by eight whale accounts, of which one whale has 41.03 percent. This means that all of these whales made at least an 800 percent return on their investments last month.
