Someone Is Already Playing CS2 Thanks To A Torrent Leak

counter attack 2 was announced earlier this week and fans have gone absolutely crazy trying to get into its limited access trial. The test began the same day the game was announced, with invites being sent to Steam players based on various criteria. One of them is how long they have been playing, which has resulted in some players stay AFK in matches just to rack up more playing time. CS2 Hype has become so popular that there are even Fake Valve YouTube accounts preying on eager gamers offering trial access by sending them to phishing sites.

Test invites for Counter-Strike 2 are always sent through Steam, but if you can't wait, there's another option. As seen by Twitter user artie yamamoto, there is now a torrent version of CS2 that can be played via emulation. It is not the complete experience, since according to internal games the torrent is an older version of the game without full multiplayer. However, it reportedly has a single player campaign and you can play local matches over LAN.

The leaked version of CS2 likely came from someone who received the test invite and then packaged the files for online distribution. Counter-Strike 2 will be a free update when it arrives later this summer, so there is little incentive for players to try this torrent other than to take a look at the game's technical improvements.

Those technical improvements include reworked netcode, remade iconic maps, and all the bells and whistles that come with the Source 2 engine, like lighting and shadow improvements. Fans are particularly impressed with the new smoke grenade that persists throughout the game so everyone sees the same cloud. It can also fill spaces like real smoke and briefly disappears when bullets fly.

Another new feature in Counter-Strike 2 is new and improved molotov cocktails which were at least partially inspired by a fan mod. They also include Half-Life: Alyx's amazing liquid shading to make the liquid inside move relative to the player's movements.

Counter-Strike 2 is coming sometime this summer. Players seeking access to the limited trial will just have to wait patiently for their Steam invite to arrive.
