Sporting director Jesper Jansson has opened up for the first time about promising Akinkunmi Amoo's strangest move to Cyprus after he was found guilty of rape in Denmark.
The former sporting director of Hammarby and FC Copenhagen said Amoo was abandoned with "nowhere to go" after the conviction, which the player has since appealed.
Jansson said the football channel: โThis is a boy we brought to Hammarby from Africa when he was 18 years old. We had also followed him for a long time and now many turned their backs on him. I could say it was my personal responsibility (to help).
โI was in a very terrible situation and that's how the argument started. Somehow she had nowhere to go. It's an ongoing thing and he had been hurt and he needed a place to start. โIt was more on a personal level.โ
Jansson has since been sacked by the Cypriot club, while Amoo mutually terminated his contract with the club for โpersonal reasonsโ.
