SR10000 fine for those trapped in vehicles while crossing valleys during flashfloods in Asir

ABHA โ€” The Civil Defense Forces of the southern region of Asir have rescued seven people who were trapped in their two vehicles while crossing valleys during a torrent.

The Civil Defense, in coordination with the Traffic Department, imposed fines of SR 10,000 for violating traffic regulations regarding crossing floodways. They were found committing the infraction of venturing to cross valleys during the time of torrential flows.

The Civil Defense had warned against venturing out during the heavy rainy season. It also warned against driving over low-lying areas, near pools of water and crossing valleys during flash floods.

The Civil Defense has published an infographic on its Twitter account, intended to raise public awareness of the dangers of crossing valleys and reefs during torrential flow, warning that a maximum fine of SR10,000 will be imposed on offenders.

The Civil Defense also warned against swimming in the torrential streams, valleys and swamps of water during the rainy season.
