Shares of Gland Pharma (up 2.58%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (up 1.38%), Granules India (up 1.11%), Zydus Lifesciences (up 0.91%) and Sanofi India (up 0.69%) ended the day as the top pack winners.
On the other hand, Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals (down 0.82 percent), Alkem Laboratories (down 0.74 percent), Laurus (down 0.64 percent), Aurobindo Pharma (down 0.27 percent) and Torrent Pharmaceuticals (down 0.2 percent) finished as the day's biggest losers.
The Nifty Pharma Index closed up 0.54 percent at 14,092.6.
The benchmark NSE Nifty50 index finished 83.9 points at 19833.15, while the BSE Sensex rose 302.3 points at 67097.44.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 33 ended in the green, while 17 closed in the red.
