French justice has issued several decisions ordering Internet service providers to block dozens of streaming and torrent sites. Here is the complete list.
Almost all countries are trying to fight piracy of copyrighted works. France is no exception and numerous complaints have been filed against sites identified as illegal. They provide access to streaming movies and seriesbut also to music, video games or software through the file exchange protocol torrent. The request is simple: that these sites are no longer accessible to Internet users. To do this, one of the most radical methods is to request a blocking by Internet service providers (ISP).
At the beginning of 2023, 4 French operators blocked around 50 addresses in this way. A practice that would tend to reduce Web traffic elsewhere. However, Justice reiterates after several decisions issued on April 4 and detailed by Alexandre Archambault, a lawyer specialized in new technology law, regarding X (Twitter). Several entities were among the plaintiffs, such as National Center for Film and Animated Images (CNC), disney, Gaumont, Supremethere Civil society of phonographic producersโฆEveryone won their case.

Orange, SFR, Free and Bouygues Telecom have 15 days from the decision of April 4 to proceed with the blocking. Therefore, it will be effective in April 18th at the latest and must last 18 months. The list may be updated after informing rights holders, especially if they notice a domain name change to avoid the penalty.
