Suede are recording their “noisy, unhinged and raw” new album

In view of have announced that the recording of a new album is underway and that it will be “loud”, “unhinged” and “raw”. Watch a live preview below.

Speaking in the Isle of Wight Festival 2024 Over the weekend, Brett Anderson said he was “very excited” about the direction of the Britpop band's upcoming tenth studio album, which follows 2022's release.Autofiction'.

“We have started recording it. There's going to be a lot of noise. It’s going to be weird,” she said. Absolute Radio. “It's going to be more desperate and neurotic than 'Autofiction.' It's more unhinged and, in some ways, more direct and more honest. A lot of the theme is pretty exposed and raw, and it just plays in so many ways. There is no poetry in it. It's like saying how I feel about things.”

They released a new song titled 'Antidepressants' during their performance at the festival on June 23, which was captured on video by a fan. Based on urgent post-punk guitar riffs and a typical Suede anthemic chorus, the song offers a preview of their new era, which they describe as “raw.”

speaking to NME in 2022Anderson teased the sound of the next album, saying it would be "a lot more experimental."

“Interestingly, as you get older you need to relearn and remember what it's like to be a new band. Little by little you will be able to move away from those starting points and that exciting energy. We wanted to get some of that back,” he said.

The new record will follow that of 2022Autofiction', which was praised by NME for being “one of the greatest comebacks of the 21st century,” in a four-star review. “All in all, 'Autofiction' finds indie greats returning to the garage to make a racket. “This is a band with a zest for life,” wrote Andrew Trendell.

This Friday (June 28), Suede embarks on a Co-headlining UK and Ireland tour with Manic Street Preacherswhich will see them head to the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in North Wales, before finishing at London's Alexandra Park on July 18. Later in the summer, they will perform a great outdoor show on August 1 at Audley End in Saffron Walden, Essex, alongside Shah and Johnny Brown.
