Thane: Women dies stuck under debris in kitchen after wooden house catches fire and collapses

Thane - A 40-year-old Diva woman in Thane District died after being trapped in the lower frame of a house. The woman was making rice chappati in the kitchen when a fire caused a cylinder to explode and later the old wooden frame house caught fire and completely collapsed.

According to the regional disaster management cell of Thane Municipal Corporation, the deceased woman is identified as Sapna Vinod Patil (40), a resident of Vetalpada, Padle gaon, Kalyan-Shilphata Road, Diva in Thane.

"The house is owned by Vinod Patil, who claims that the village usually has a separate room as a kitchen, which is also a warehouse, like the old houses in the village. His wife was cooking chappati on firewood. By the way, it caught fire and the reason is still unclear.

Also, a cylinder in the room was too ruined due to fire. As the house has a wooden base like an old structure, the whole wooden part caught fire and the house collapsed on the woman. She was trapped in the house, "said an RDMC official.

A team of officers that included RDMC, TDRF, police officers, torrent officers, fire brigade, water tanker, and rescue vehicle arrived at the scene and began the rescue operation.

"The woman's body was removed from the structure and handed over to the Shil-Daighar police. The body was taken to Kalwa hospital for an autopsy. The fire took place at 11 a.m. And everything was under control by 12:30 pm, "said Santosh Kadam, head of the Regional Disaster Management Cell.
