Tom Holland Just Got Candid About His Journey To Sobriety

Since first revealing his decision to get sober in May, tom holland he has opened up even more about giving up alcohol, calling it the "best thing" he's ever done. speaking in the By the way with Jay Shetty podcast, the Spiderman The star shared that her journey to sobriety began shortly after the Christmas period in 2021, during which time she "was drinking a lot."

โ€œI didn't wake up one day and say, 'I'm going to stop drinking,'โ€ Holland revealed. โ€œI just, like many Brits, had a very, very drunk December. [It was] Christmas, I was on vacation, I drank a lot and I have always been able to drink a lot.

The actor went on to explain that he first decided to give up alcohol for the entire month of January, and when "having a drink" began to consume his thoughts, Holland began to worry about his relationship with alcohol. โ€œIt really scared me. I was just like, 'Wow, maybe. Maybe I have a little alcohol. So I decided to punish myself and say, 'I'll do February too.' I'm going to take two months off. If I can take two months off, then I can prove to myself that I don't have a problem.'โ€

The crowded room The star eventually set a goal of giving up alcohol for six months, and by the time of his birthday on June 1, the actor said he was "the happiest I've ever been in my life."

โ€œI could sleep better. I could handle the problems better,โ€ Holland recalled. โ€œThings that would go wrong on set, that would normally bother me, I could take in stride. I had greater mental clarity. I felt healthier, I felt fitter.โ€ The MCU star also revealed that her own experience inspired her mother to embrace sobriety as well. "She loves it, and she's been amazing," she added.

Holland first spoke about his sobriety in May 2023, when he revealed in an interview with entertainment weekly who had been sober for over a year after having a "minor breakdown" while filming the Apple TV+ crime thriller The crowded room.
