Top Russian Darknet Market HACKED, Bitcoin Takenโ€ฆ then Transferred to Ukraine!

Computer security specialist Alex Holden was born in the Ukraine and, although he now lives in the United States, he is doing what he can to help his countries in their efforts against Russia.

Holden shares his achievement of infiltrating Russia's largest online drug marketplace, called Solaris, stealing 1.6 bitcoin (BTC) from the website's main wallet and donating it to Ukraine.

The funds were sent to a Ukrainian non-profit organization called "Enjoying Life," and the organization's co-founder Tina Mikhailovskaya confirms that it was received, saying it "was given directly to the elderly, families and internally displaced people who suffered the Russian war". ."

Holden declined to say how he pulled off the theft, only sharing that it involved the help of his team of hackers that he employs at his company Hold Security, and that they took "partial control of the Solaris infrastructure," which somehow included access to the wallet.

While it's a funny story, it pales in comparison to the true impact of cryptocurrency in this war...

Ukraine is the nation in history to formally accept bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to finance the costs of a war, and so far its wallet has received 645 BTC in donations from around the world. That equates to $10 million USD at current rates and $45 million at Bitcoin's max.
