Torrent forays into green hydrogen with Gorakhpur pilot project โ€“ Times of India

NEW DELHI: torrent power announced on Monday its entry into the field of green hydrogen (GH2) with a pilot project to blend natural gas sold as CNG and png through its city gas networks with the 'fuel of the future'.
The company said it is considering injecting 2.5% of GH2 into its city gas networks from Gorakhpur pilot based on Torrent Gas. The project, based on an alkaline electrolyser, is expected to be completed in eight months.
The company said it is also considering developing export-oriented green ammonia projects as a growth avenue for the company with active interests in several states.
He Gorakhpur Pilot Project it will be one of the largest private sector GH2 blending projects in India, the company said. Combining GH2 with the existing natural gas supply allows for a gradual transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy mix, he said.
GH2 is produced using energy from renewable sources to electrolyze water.
Through this initiative, Torrent has taken the first step to incorporate GH2 into its business operations and, together with its strong presence in renewable energy, is looking to grow as a leading provider of end-to-end GH2 solutions for industrial and commercial players in India.
