Torrent Gas commences piped cooking gas supply in Patiala โ€“ ET EnergyWorld

New Delhi: Torrent Gas Ltd said on Monday that it had started supplying piped cooking gas to households in Patiala in Punjab as the company expands its operations in its licensed areas. Torrent Gas has been authorized by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to supply Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Pipelined Natural Gas (PNG) in Patiala, SAS Nagar, Sangrur and Malerkotla.

In a statement, the company said the Punjab government's new and renewable energy minister Aman Arora announced the start of supply to 101 piped gas connections at a function in Patiala on Monday.

Piped cooking gas will be available in Patiala at Rs 46 per standard cubic meter (including tax) and a special introductory offer, including EMI schemes, will be available to encourage customers to adopt PNG. Customers can register for piped cooking gas for just Rs 590 (including GST) and get connected. The remaining amount, i.e. the refundable security deposit, can be paid in 13 installments of Rs 500, along with a bi-monthly invoice.

"PNG offers several distinctive advantages to consumers over LPG. PNG is safe and reliable, does not consume kitchen storage space and alleviates concerns about drying out and replacements. It also eliminates the need for advance reservations, where consumers pay after "These advantages make PNG an attractive option for consumers, offering convenience and economy," the statement said.

Torrent Gas has already laid gas pipelines in Rajpura to provide domestic gas connections and more than 3,250 customers already enjoy the benefits of uninterrupted gas supply.

Rakesh Kumar, CEO of Torrent Gas, said, "Torrent Gas is committed to providing clean energy to the people of Punjab and for this, it has already made an investment of approximately Rs 300 crore so far."

PNG, he said, offers unparalleled convenience to a modern home by supplying uninterrupted cooking gas. "This eliminates the need to reserve the gas cylinder, the anxiety of waiting for it and the fear of running out of gas in an emergency. Supplying PNG through a reliable pipeline network will offer greater safety, convenience and savings to residents . , commercial and industrial customers of Patiala."

Torrent Gas currently operates 26 CNG stations and has connected over 3,250 households with piped gas connections in Patiala, SAS Nagar, Sangrur and Malerkotla license areas. It has already laid 86 kilometers of steel and 440 kilometers of MDPE pipes and plans to connect 23,000 homes in Patiala, Rajpura and Derabassi with piped natural gas.

The company has obtained license from sector regulator PNGRB to establish city gas distribution (CGD) infrastructure and sell compressed natural gas (CNG) to vehicle users and PNG to industries and households in 38 districts in 7 states (Tamil NaduTelangana, Uttar PradeshGujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Punjab) and 1 Union Territory (Puducherry).

Torrent authorized areas across the country have a population of approximately 9 crore, which is approximately 7 percent of the total population of India.
