Torrent Pharma forays into OTC segment with calcium supplement

pharmaceuticals torrent on Tuesday said that it has ventured into the over-the-counter segment in the country with shelcal 500, a brand of calcium supplements. With its composition of 500 mg of calcium and 250 IU of vitamin D3, Shelcal 500 helps to optimize calcium absorption, increases bone density, improves muscle strength and helps boost immunity.

Calcium comes from natural ingredients like oyster shell, which has good absorption/bioavailability in the body.

According to studies, 40.6 percent of Indians are calcium deficient while 79 percent are vitamin D deficiency.
