Torrent Pharma standalone Q1 net declines 8%

Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited on Tuesday posted an 8 percent drop in independent net profit for the quarter ended June 30, to 274 million rupees from 298 million rupees in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Independent income from operations stood at โ‚น 1,695 crore compared to โ‚น 1,727 crore in the same period last year.

On a consolidated basis, the company's net profit for the period stood at Rs 330 million, an increase of 3 percent, compared to Rs 321 million in the same quarter last year.

Consolidated income from operations was 2,134 million rupees (2,056 million rupees).

Indian revenue grew 18 percent to โ‚น 1,093 crore, while United States revenue fell 29% to โ‚น 266 crore. Revenues from Brazil and Germany increased 9 percent and 5 percent, respectively, to 153 million rupees and 260 million rupees.

Consolidated EBITDA for the quarter stood at 717 million rupees, approximately 8% higher than the 664 million rupees reported in the same period last year.

R&D spending increased 16% during the quarter to Rs 125 million (Rs 108 million).

Shares of Torrent Pharma closed at ยฃ 3,003.75 each, almost 2.5 percent down from the previous close, on Tuesday's BSE.
