torrent poweran integrated electricity utility, has initiated a pilot project on mix of green hydrogen with natural gas in the city gas distribution network (CGD). The pilot project, based on an alkaline electrolyser, is expected to be completed in eight months.

โ€œThis Gorakhpur-based pilot project for Torrent Gas will be one of the largest private sector blending projects in India,โ€ the company stated.

Torrent will blend green hydrogen at 2.5% by volume on the CGD network, marking its foray into the green hydrogen business in India.

Through this initiative, along with its strong presence in renewable energy, Torrent seeks to grow as a leading provider of end-to-end green hydrogen solutions to industrial and commercial players in India. It is also eyeing export-oriented green ammonia development as a growth avenue.

In addition, a renewable capacity of 0.7 GW is in different stages of development. Torrent Power is also working on pumped hydro storage.
