Trolls hit family of missing Brit including โ€˜mediumโ€™ asking for flight

MISSING Jay Slater's family have slammed cruel trolls for "thriving in agony" as they face a series of heartless messages.

The 19-year-old British tourist disappeared on Monday while on holiday in Tenerife with two friends.

This sparked a desperate round-the-clock search for the bricklayer's apprentice, from lancashirewith police, firefighters, sniffer dogs, drones and helicopters joining the search.

But the frantic search has also uncovered waves of online sleuths spewing unverified claims and false theories in Facebook groups, some with tens of thousands of members.

Some thoughtless trolls have even attacked Jay's relatives, who are clinging to hope that the teenager will be found.

Jay's worried mother, Debbie Duncan, says she has been bombarded with fake calls from idiotic pranksters claiming your child has been kidnapped.

And Debbie's partner Andy Watson, 63, said a sick person claiming to be a medium had been in contact with her and claimed to know Jay's location.

He said: "They told Debbie: 'If you paid for my flights to Tenerife, I'll tell you where it is.'

โ€œIt's just despicable.

"Some people just seem to thrive off of people's agony."

Dozens of unverified GoFundMe pages have also been created under Jay's name.

The organization said that "all campaigns are under review" and that no money will be transferred unless it is verified that the donations will go to his family.

Concerned Andy said the family was still anxiously awaiting news about Jay.

He said: "The worst thing is not knowing what happened. That affects you."

"I know what his mother is going through. Mothers and children are close and equal.

"I wouldn't wish this on anyone. It's terrible."

A group of 15 people from Jay's inner circle are now in Tenerife, including the parents of his friends Lucy Mae and Brad, who had gone to the island with him.

Then Jay's phone went dead and his last location was Teno Rural Park, a mountainous area popular with hikers.

In its final snapchat postsent just an hour before he was last heard from, he was holding a cigarette in the lodge where he had gone on Sunday with two men.

Today, Precious hours of searching were lost. where police dramatically moved their search to the other side of the island after a false sighting.

Mountain rescue teams left the hills where Jay disappeared and began to scour the south of the island.

But the huge search operation has now been moved near the town of Masca, in the north-west of Tenerife, after the report turned out to be false.

Police confirmed this afternoon that the search had resumed in the Teno Rural Park, near Masca, after being temporarily stopped today when the focus shifted southwards.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard stated: โ€œThe agents have returned to the Masca area to continue the search operation.โ€

The force did not offer any details about the earlier decision to suspend operations or the reason for the resumption.

Shortly after midday, the Civil Guard revealed that the popular tourist resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Amรฉricas were now the search areas.

A spokesman said at the time: "As things stand at the moment, the search in the mountainous area near Masca in the north has been stopped."

Jay Slater's friend Lucy Mae responded by stating: โ€œSomeone has given a false tip to the police saying they called a taxi to Los Cristianos.

โ€œIf this were the case, he would have called his mother or one of us. I know him well and he would NOT have us worrying.

โ€œSomeone is trying to dissuade the police from him being there. I'm starting to think he's been kidnapped.โ€

When asked if he thought that was the reason for the change, he said: "Yes, this is really serious."

Coronation Street star's plea for help

VICKY Entwhistle, who used to play Janice Battersby in ITV soap Coronation Street, shared a heartbreaking post on Tuesday as the search continues for missing teenager Jay Slater.

Vicky shared one of the missing posters circulating online and added: "My Goddess Mother's grandson is missing. His mother flew out at 7pm to join the police search.

"I hope God finds him. Please pray for him."

Fans flocked to the comments to offer reassurance, with one saying: "Saw this on Facebook Vicky, it seems to be being shared everywhere, hopefully there will be good news imminently with all the love and support out there , he just does it." It's much harder when you're abroad! Love and prayers to you all."

Another offered: "We are in Tenerife, if we can help in any way please let us know."
