Twitch source code leaked by anonymous hacker • Eurogamer.net

Streamer payouts were also leaked.

The source code for Twitch appears to have been leaked by an anonymous hacker, including payment reports from streamers.

A 126GB torrent has been uploaded to 4chan, describing the Twitch community as a "disgusting toxic cesspool." The leak is intended to "encourage more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space."

According to the 4chan post, the leak allegedly includes the following:

  • The entirety of twitch.tv, with a history of confirmations dating back to its inception
  • Twitch clients for mobile, desktop and gaming consoles
  • Various proprietary SDKs and internal AWS services used by Twitch
  • All other properties owned by Twitch, including IGDB and CurseForge
  • An unreleased Steam competitor from Amazon Game Studios
  • Twitch SOC Internal Red Team Building Tools
  • Creator payment reports dating back to 2019

The 4chan post also included the hashtag #DoBetterTwitch. A similar hashtag was originally created by marginalized streamers to push Twitch to improve security measures on the platform and prevent hate raids.

Streamers also organized #ADayOffTwitch to protest against the streaming platform, but this leak is not linked to this community.

Users have now started sorting the data in the torrent, including posting the revenue numbers from the streamers.

The 4chan user also claims that this is part of the leak, presumably with more data to share at a later date.

Twitch users are encouraged to change their passwords, set up two-factor authentication, and reset their streaming key to protect their data.

Eurogamer has reached out to Twitch for comment.
