Twitter quietly adds BTC and ETH price indexes to search function

Twitter has added a new crypto feature that allows Twitter users to look up the price of Bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH) simply by typing "Bitcoin" or "Ethereum" in the search tab.

The Elon Musk-run social media platform did not announce the new feature to the public. However, the Documenting Bitcoin account was one of the first to highlight the update, sharing a screenshot of the new price index feature with its 853,700 Twitter followers on Dec. 21.

When searching for crypto token names on Twitter, the price of Ether also appears, however it appears that BTC and ETH are the only two price charts that appear in the Twitter search tab. Other top cryptocurrencies, including Musk's beloved Dogecoin (DOGE) He hasn't made the cut yet.

Cointelegraph also found that typing โ€œ$Ethereumโ€, โ€œEthereum Priceโ€ and โ€œETH Priceโ€ also opens the price chart, with equivalent searches also working for Bitcoin.

The price charts also include a clickable โ€œView on Robinhoodโ€ link in the bottom left corner, suggesting that the retail trading platform has partnered with Twitter for this integration.

There, users access Robinhood's price chart for ETH, which provides an additional link below that says "Sign up to buy Ethereum." The same links are also provided for Bitcoin.

However, no details of the partnership between Twitter and Robinhood have been revealed.

Arguably, the Twitter price chart integration may drive more traffic to Robinhood, as #Bitcoin alone is tweeted approximately 120,000 times a day. according to to BitInfoCharts data.

This figure would likely be much higher if alternative tweet tags such as Bitcoin, $Bitcoin, BTC, and $BTC were included in the figure.

#Ethereum, on the other hand, is hovering in the 25,000 range.
