Two dead and two wounded in a shooting at the Torrent cemetery

Torrent Cemetery, located in the largest municipality in the Huerta Oeste region, in the city of Valencia, was the scene on Monday, November 1, of a shootout between rival clans. Families and individuals who had come on All Saints' Day to pay their respects to deceased relatives were shocked. The incident left two dead and two injured.

A 45-year-old man, identified by sources as Antonio GG, is one of the deceased. He reportedly received at least two bullets in the chest and back. One of the agents of the Local Police tried to carry out cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him but failed to save his life and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

His 20-year-old son is one of the injured. He was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg that apparently went in and then out.

The other deceased is reported as Josรฉ Luis PM, a 79-year-old resident of Torrent. As confirmed by health workers, he suffered cardiac arrest after being struck in the side by a stray bullet in the altercation. Josรฉ was in the cemetery visiting his wife's grave when the shooting began, and he was said to be about 20 meters away at the time.

Agents of the Torrent Local Police and the National Police quickly arrived at the scene. The latter has now taken over the investigation to try to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. One theory is that this is a dispute between two local clans that have been involved in similar shooting incidents before.

During the confusion and panic among the people in the cemetery, the alleged perpetrators escaped in an old blue Ford Transit van. This vehicle was later located by the police in the Xenillet Torrent neighborhood. Forensic officers will collect samples inside the van, hoping to identify the suspected shooters.

As a result of this incident, the City Council of Torrent has closed the municipal cemetery, as reported lift-emv.com.
