Kolkata (West Bengal) [India]May 14 - Two people were electrocuted to death and another person was injured at a home here, police said Sunday.

"Three people, including a mother-daughter duo and a son-in-law, were electrocuted in the early morning of May 14. The mother and daughter, Khairul Nessa and Muhata Begum, were killed while one was injured," police said.

"Izhar Akhtar (51 years old) was drying wet clothes in the premises. A GI wire was hanging on the wall of the premises in a common passage. Around 07:00 am he was suddenly electrocuted. Izhar's mother-in-law, Muntaha Begum tried to save him , but was also electrocuted. Khairul Nessa, the daughter of Muhata Begum, also tried to save them and was also electrocuted in the process," the police added.

The mother and daughter duo were admitted to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Son-in-law Izhar Akhtar was admitted to a nearby nursing home, police said.

After the incident, officials from Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) also visited the site.
