WILMINGTON, Del. โ€“ U.S. Senator Chris Coons (D-Del.) today issued the following statement regarding President Biden's nomination of Christy Goldsmith Romero to be the next chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC):

During her decade of experience as Special Inspector General for the Troubled Asset Relief Program, Goldsmith Romero led efforts to monitor and strengthen distressed financial institutions. Most recently, as commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, she has promoted the integrity and resilience of U.S. markets. โ€œGoldsmith Romero has the experience and expertise necessary to lead the FDIC, and I call on my colleagues in the Senate to quickly approve her nomination.โ€
