UP: PM Modi lays foundation for 4 power projects for Torrent Power

Prime Minister Narendra ModiOn Monday, February 19, he laid the foundation stone for four renewable energy projects by torrent power worth an added investment of 25,000 crores during the mega Groundbreaking Ceremony (GBC) 4.0 in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. These projects are expected to generate 8,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

The projects include setting up two pumped storage hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 4,150 MW at Sonbhadra, a 150 MW solar power project in Lalitpur district of Bundelkhand and a pilot green hydrogen production facility at Gorakhpur (for which the gas distribution network is being built by Torrent Gas).

Torrent Power had signed the MoUs (Memorandum of Understanding) for these projects with the Uttar Pradesh Government during the Uttar Pradesh Global Investor Summit (UPGIS) 2023, held in February. The company, an INR 25,694 crore integrated power company Torrente GroupIt is one of the largest companies in the country with a presence in the entire energy value chain: generation, transmission and distribution.
