UPDATE: Little Maddie & Conrad Missing after Their Mom Was Found Dead, ‘Massive’ Search Ongoing

• A South Carolina mother has died after her family was trapped in a flash flood.
• After the torrent of water washed away the family, some members of the brood survived.
• While the deluge threatened to sweep everyone away, the mother was trying to get two of her children to safety, and the little ones are still missing.

Tragedy struck Pennsylvania over the weekend as a flash flood poured into streets, washing away cars and filling homes. When the sudden downpour hit, 11 cars were caught in the torrent of water while stopped on General Washington Memorial Boulevard.

The death toll currently stands at five, although some people are still missing. Among those who lost their lives in the unexpected flooding was Katie Seley, 32, a mother from South Carolina who was visiting relatives with her family when the unexpected happened.

While Katie lost her life, her husband, Jim Sheils, her eldest son, Jack, 4, and her mother, Dahlia, 62, fortunately survived the flooding. Although three of the family members are safe, Katie and her mother were trying to get the two other children, Mattie and Conradto safety when the flood overtook them.

Although the family has refrained from speaking directly to the press, they have asked a spokesperson to contact them on their behalf to explain what happened. The spokesperson explained that the family was visiting family and friends in Pennsylvania and on their way to a barbecue when rushing water hit them out of nowhere.

Fortunately, the grandmother managed to get out of the raging flow of water and was treated at a local hospital soon after. Search teams showed up shortly after the flooding began and recovered Katie's body from debris left behind by the storm. Tragically, the other two children in the family have yet to be found.

Katie, her husband, their three children, and Katie's mother were spending time with relatives when the flash flood struck without warning. The family was in his car when the water spilled into the streets and Jim had to act fast. He managed to get his eldest son to safety while his wife and his mother-in-law tried to grab the other two children.

The family also thanked the community for their unwavering support, noting that it has helped them stay strong during this difficult time.

Although Katie's mother also made it out of the water, the mother of three was unable to get to safety in time, and she and her two children were washed in the flood Soon after, the body of Katie, who had perished in the deluge, was found. Search teams had to comb through the debris left behind by the flood.

The family explained the incident and explained that the water came out of nowhere and took everyone by surprise. They made it clear that they never entered a street filled with water. Instead, the flood surrounded them as they simply drove, sweeping the car away and nearly taking everyone with it.

Although search teams did show up to help them after Jim, his mother-in-law, and their oldest son got to safety, they put their efforts on hold briefly. The family assured everyone that search teams would continue their efforts the next day, and a news conference was scheduled for 3 p.m. at Washington Crossing United Methodist Church.

Images of the flood and the aftermath showed the brute force of the water. The deluge had overturned numerous cars, uprooted tree limbs, and filled countless local houses, causing a great deal of damage to local infrastructure. Search teams had to suspend their efforts while they waited for the torrent to subside.

Rescue efforts could only continue the next day after the weather had cleared and the flooding had subsided. As soon as the rescue teams had a clear opportunity to get out and continue the search, they assembled several boats to search the Delaware and assembled a squadron of drones to comb the area.

While Katie's body has been recovered, there is still a "massive" search in progress for the two missing children, nine months and two years old. Surviving family members issued a statement shortly after the tragedy, thanking everyone involved in the rescue efforts. a spokesman wrote:

"Your compassion, kindness and courage have given us strength through this indescribably difficult time, and your commitment to bringing Conrad and Mattie home is unwavering. We are grateful that you were able to save so many affected by these unprecedented floods."

The family also thanked the community for their unwavering support, noting that it has helped them stay strong during this difficult time. The family asked for privacy and said they will not be releasing any future statements or answering any questions while they are grieving.

Katie was just one of the people who lost their lives during the flood. The other four individuals were Enzo Depiero, a 78-year-old man from Newtown Township, Linda Depiero, a 74-year-old woman from Newtown Township, Susan Barnhart, a 53-year-old woman from Titusville NJ, Yuko Love, and a 64-year-old woman. of the Newtown Township.

Time Brewer, the Upper Makefield fire chief, commented on the flooding, noting that it came out of nowhere and caused an unimaginable amount of damage to local property. He commented that he thought Hurricane Ida was an unexpected natural disaster, but confessed that the flooding had been even more destructive. He noted"In my 44 years, I have never seen anything like it."

The Sheils expressed their gratitude to all those working to save those washed away by the flood. They wrote"We truly appreciate the overwhelming support that the community and individuals across the country have shown for these families and for all of the first responders. We cannot thank them enough and know that what they have done has not gone unnoticed. God bless them."
