US President Joe Biden urges tech firms to address risks of AI


The president of the United States, Joe Biden, affirmed on Tuesday that the security of artificial intelligence (AI) is still uncertain, and he stressed that tech companies need to make sure their products are secure before releasing them to the public.

During a meeting with science and technology advisers, Biden acknowledged that AI could be beneficial in addressing problems like disease and climate change. However, she stressed the importance of addressing potential risks to society, national security and the economy.

At the start of a meeting with the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, he said that technology companies must ensure that their products are secure before releasing them to the public. He reiterated his call for the US Congress to pass nonpartisan privacy laws that limit the personal data collected by technology companies, ban advertising directed at children, and prioritize health and safety in the development of products.
