Uttoxeter Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty says nothing will distract him as he goes for gold in Tokyo

Uttoxeter Olympian Adam Peaty has spoken about how he prepares for the races and how he hopes to participate in this year's Tokyo games.

The 26 years claimed Team GB's first medal at Rio 2016, taking home gold in the 100m breaststroke before doubling his medal table as part of the men's 4x100m medley quartet that took silver.

He says nothing will distract him from going for the gold, be it covidual or logistical issues. He said, "You can't let anything affect you in sport."

You now have your eyes in Tokyo 2020 where once again he goes for the gold.

Peaty, who has become a new father, said: "To be here and go through the whole process of being a part of Team GB.

"It is one of the most prestigious and exciting things you can do.

"Nothing can divert me from what I need to achieve. You cannot allow anything to affect you."

Peaty, who became the most successful British swimmer at a World Championships in Budapest in 2017 after claiming a fifth world title, said he knows what competition is like and how he plans to compete.

He said: "I know what competition is like internationally, but I want to solidify my position in the 100 meter breaststroke, then we will focus on the relay and how we can solidify ourselves."
