Victoria Cross Station more than 85 per cent complete | Sydney Metro

Victoria Cross station is one of six new city stations set to open in 2024, creating faster public transport connections between the North Sydney business district and Sydney's CBD.

The 14 new elevators and 19 new escalators to take passengers to the platform have already been installed and final commissioning will be completed progressively. The 22 Opal doors at the two entrances are installed, ready for passengers.

Also completed are the station platforms, built inside Australia's largest railway cavern, 31 meters underground.

The finishing touches will be made to Sydney's new northern transport hub in the coming months, including station entrances and adjacent commercial and public domain areas.

More than 5,000 people have worked on the delivery, design and construction of the station, and more than 50,000 employment opportunities have been created over the life of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project.

More than 15,000 passengers are expected to pass through Victoria Cross station during peak morning hours when it opens to the public. The station will relieve pressure on the existing North Sydney station and provide a fast and reliable transport service for passengers in the residential, educational and commercial areas of North Sydney.

Once open, passengers will enjoy fast tube travel times into the city from Victoria Cross, including to Barangaroo in three minutes, Martin Place in five minutes and Gadigal in seven minutes.
