Pep Guardiola's right-hand man Domenec Torrent and former Cameroon coach Antonio Conceicao are understood to be the two foreign coaches being seriously considered.
The process of hiring a new coach for the Super Eagles has been largely under the radar with senior officials bitterly divided over the choice of coach and whether to settle for a foreign or local man.
One of the senior officials told SCORENigeria that if they were to settle for a local coach, it would be Amuneke because โhe is better qualifiedโ than his local counterparts.
Torrent enjoyed a close working relationship as number 2 to Pep, considered the best coach in the world.
His representatives have been optimistic in their attempt to get their man into the top spot.
However, his biggest downfall is that he does not have a โdeep knowledgeโ of African football, having never worked on the continent.
Conceicao, on the other hand, led the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon to third place when they hosted the postponed AFCON 2021 two years ago.
The NFF can afford to pay both foreign coaches.
