Women investors are exploring cryptocurrencies in recent time, shows study

New Delhi โ€“ According to a recent survey by BlockFi, a US-based cryptocurrency trading platform, more female investors are attracted to cryptocurrencies. Among all the women who participated in the study, a third of them plan to buy cryptocurrencies in 2022. Of the third, 60% of women said that they plan to buy digital assets in the coming months.

The survey was conducted by a third-party survey panel that took place in late January. The survey included 1,031 participating American women between the ages of 18 and 65.

Furthermore, another study also shows a similar situation in India. India is considered to be second in cryptocurrency adoption as young investors make up a larger section of cryptocurrency investors and women are a small part of this growing group. Furthermore, data from major crypto exchanges in India shows that around 10-15% of crypto investors are women and most of them are based in metropolitan cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Lucknow.

โ€œThere is no better way to learn about something new than by doing it, especially when immersing yourself in the seemingly complex world of cryptocurrencies,โ€ said Flori Marquez, founder and senior vice president of operations at BlockFi in a statement.

According to the report, one in four participating women owns crypto assets and, being part of that group, most of them have never sold what they have bought.

Women try to invest in the most popular cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin (BTC; 71%), Dogecoin (DOGE; 42%) and Ethereum (ETH; 18%). However, other subsectors in this space remain largely unexplored by women, with only 5% of women purchasing non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or engaging in crypto mining.

Despite the investment of women in crypto, the industry is still dominated by men. Among the 121 leading crypto companies, only five or 4.13% have female founders according to Crypto Head research. Along with women, they also have male founders.

It can be predicted that the number of women investors in the crypto market tends to grow in the coming years. BlockFi's survey found that only 15% of women surveyed found interest in working with cryptocurrencies, while only 10% said they plan to work in crypto or blockchain-based companies in the next year.
