CHARLOTTE, NC. - It seems that innovation comes naturally to Nasiyr Bey. The owner of Aroma Cigar Lounge on Monroe Road is always looking for new ideas. So when you researched cryptocurrencies, it was a no-brainer to incorporate decentralized digital money based on blockchain technology into your business.
"It is the future; everything is going digital, technology is changing. We are in a new era, โsays Bey.
Before the pandemic, it began accepting crypto payments for its cigars, lighters, wine, and other products. Using a point of sale system called Pundi X., it accepts credit and debit cards and certain cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. Now, Bey says that around 20% of his sales come from crypto.
โMany people doubted. They did not know what it was. They were really trying to figure it out. "
Solomon RC Ali is a Charlotte resident, successful businessman, and Bey's customer. He says that crypto guarantees consumers more security than cash or cards.
"He has a way of building it because he's in the right place at the right time in history," says Ali.
